Research Interests

Anne Oeldorf-Hirsch is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Connecticut, where she conducts research in the Human-Computer Interaction lab. Her research focuses on the use and effects of social media for information sharing, such as news, health, and recommendations. More recent work has focused on the use of social media to effectively engage the public in science. She teaches courses on media effects, communication technology, and social media, including a service learning course where students work with community partners in Hartford. She has presented at both communication and information science conferences, and her work appears in journals such as Mass Communication & Society,Health Communication, and Social Media + Society.
